Halibut Fishing in Ketchikan

by ryno on September 21, 2011

This is my cousin Steve.  This fish was 88 lbs. and fell to a B-2 hoochie and chunk bait of herring.  We actually hooked the fish twice.  The first time we brought it up about 50 feet and my dad’s line got tangled in it and released it.  The second time put up a fine 40 minute fight and ended with the fish in the boat.  The thing I really liked about this fish was that it was hooked and landed using a lightweight Shimano Trevala spinning rod.  That made the fight so much more than cranking it up on big gear!

Charter clients are being targeted again by the feds and commercial fisherman.  They are trying to implement a CSP that will reduce your catch even more! If you would like more info on what you can do to help your next Alaska fishing trip be a little more productive, contact us!
